Our Own Abattoir

We pride ourselves in being one of the few traditional butchers left in the country with our own Freedom Food-approved abattoir, which is used exclusively for our own shops and nationwide delivery service.

To ensure that the animals are transported from the farm with the highest standared of welfare, we use our own vehicles, whether it be our own tractor and trailer or arctic lorry.

We take the conditions of our animals very seriously and when the animals arrive at our abattoir in Porlock, Somerset, they are kept in our specially designed lairage - a holding area that's designed to feel just like a farm.

Our staff are continually trained to keep them up to date with all the latest legislation, meaning our animals are cared for and, ultimately, your meat tastes fantastic.

Phil David is responsible for the constant monitoring and numerous quality checks that are required to maintain our food standards agency approval as well as our own high standards.
